1920s 101 Chout:


During the 1920's, motorcycles were still making advancements in mechanical design but the changes from year to year were not as significant as the pre 20's. In 1920 Indian introduced a new engine platform where the transmission was bolted directly to the engine
crankcase making for a solid and robust powerplant. The robust double loop frame design was also introduced making Indians extremely durable along with superior handling.
Born in 1929 was the ever famous 101 Scout (45ci) model which had the handling and power all in 1 that just blew all of the other bikes of the era into the dust.
The 101 Scout era lasted through 1931 but the Great Depression saw motorcycle sales and designs stagnate. The Chout model was a hybrid made famous in 1948 by Max Bubeck on Rosemond Dry Lake setting an unstreamlined
land speed record of 135.58 mph. The Chout came about by greatly modifying a 101 era Scout (45ci) frame and dropping in a late model (1940's) Chief engine (hence the name Chout) to create a bike that has extremely nimble handling along with tons of power. Today Kiwi brings this legendary model back to life with their classic styled purpose built frame which
